Good things going down in Elk Rapids
Today I spoke with Dennis Valkanoff, owner of 45th Parallel Furniture, who wants to make upholstered furniture at the old Super Tool building in Elk Rapids. He is back in town to attend the meeting of the Grand Traverse County Commission, seeking final approval for the low-interest loan. He does not anticipate any problem getting approval.
Valkanoff has now signed the purchase agreement for the building, subject to needed approvals. Along with Ed Hammer and Mark Toteff, who are suppliers and collaborators, Valkanoff has implemented plans and projects to manufacture furniture soon in Elk Rapids.
Mark Toteff, Traverse Bay Manufacturing, noted in an interview with me today, that this success has been a long time in the making, and he looks forward to providing the cut and sew kits that are part of the furniture manufacturing process.
