Plumper Michigan


Nearly one in three Michigan adults are obese, according to a a new analysis from the Trust for American Health, making us one of the fattest states in the nation.

The non-profit, using funding from the Robert Wood Foundation and 2011 data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, reports that Michigan is one 12 states with an adult obesity rate higher than 30 percent.       MLive

Moomers makes list of ‘Best Ice Cream Parlors Up North’


Moomers in Traverse City is pretty well known by locals and since 2008, when it was awarded America’s Best Scoop by “Good Morning America,” the whole country has heard about the Plummers and their special brand of homemade ice cream. Emphasis is on quality, freshness and flavor. Plus, you can see the cows on the farm while you’re eating your ice cream. The place was rocking when we were there at 4:30 p.m.         MLive

Wind power controversy in rural MI


The disagreements over wind turbine farms in Michigan go far beyond aesthetics and have heightened in intensity to go beyond polite conversations. Wind power issues have led to showdowns in elections, public relations battles waged in rural communities and face-offs at local government meetings.      Detroit News

Issues tend to be sight and sound. The giant structures dominate the landscape, and several people object to the noise they make.
